Trauma-informed therapy & expressive arts
Where healing and creativity
belong in the same room.
Own Story is a space where your history, your contradictions, and your creativity are all welcome — therapy for adults navigating migration, identity, transition, and trauma.
About
You are not broken, and therapy is not repair work.
Own Story is a trauma-informed practice for adults navigating migration, identity, transition, and many forms of trauma — from intergenerational and developmental trauma to complex PTSD, relational and attachment wounds, sexual trauma, and the everyday weight of displacement, marginalization, and loss.
It was founded by a bilingual therapist — a doctoral-trained filmmaker and former arts professor — on a simple conviction: therapy is not about fixing what is broken. It is the ongoing, collaborative re-authoring of a life.
Moving from I have to survive toward I get to choose to thrive.
